Fathom

(fath-om, 1. measure the depth of (water).

2. understand (a difficult problem or an enigmatic person) after much thought.

Seek the source of the sea,

Seek to understand.

Plumb the depths of mystery,

The world below the land.

Soulful song of humpback whales,

In the chambers of the deep.

Who can say with certainty,

The meaning of their speech?

A place of savage beauty,

No footprints in the sand.

Its design is not of comfort,

To the fragile form of man.

As gentle as a whisper,

Is the small but mighty snail.

Bravely pressing forward,

As it blazes each new trail.

Life in great complexity,

Creatures great and small.

Works of masterful design,

Each has heard the makers call.
